Roughly fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered many other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say early analysis indicate the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the residents for details.
A high-ranking official commented the incident made him stunned and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
